What to Do in South San Francisco
If you’re a visitor, you might not even realize you’re in South San Francisco; this bedroom community spreads out just south of the San Francisco city limits. It’s also the location of busy San Francisco International Airport. Whether you’re arriving or departing, arrange your schedule so you have a little extra time to peruse the exhibits at the SFO Museum (SFOM), in the International Terminal’s Main Hall (pre-security) and designed to resemble SFO’s 1930s-era passenger lobby. Permanent and rotating exhibits focus on commercial aviation history. Most gallery sites are located before security checkpoints, so you can visit them without a boarding pass. The airport also has a very cool collection of public art; most pieces are in Terminal 2 and the International Terminal.
